History museum built on the ruins of the castle whose name became the origin of "Miyakonojo"

The Miyakonojo History Museum opened to preserve, display, and utilize historical and cultural materials that have remained in the local area. The museum displays valuable ancient documents, art objects such as swords, excavated items that have been found, and materials related to folk performing arts.
The main building that looks like a castle is built on the ruins of the medieval castle called “”Miyakonojo (Castle of the Capital)””, overlooking the Miyakonojo Basin. Featuring a 13-meter high interior space with a large atrium, you can see characteristic wooden structure everywhere.
